Situated smack-dab in the heart of Bath's iconic Royal Crescent, this classic hotel takes you back to the golden days of Georgian architecture, English charm, and heavenly spas. I was lucky enough to holiday at the Royal Crescent Hotel recently, and let me tell you, this hotel is one of the top spots to rest your head in Bath. Get ready to feel like a damn queen – or king – the moment you step foot on this stunning property.
My trip to the Royal Crescent Hotel happened to coincide with their Taittinger Dinner – a fancy, multi-course meal with bubbly pairings. I'll dish more on that mouthwatering event at the end of this post. But first, let's talk about my review of this incredible hotel in Bath – perfect for a very swanky city break!
Review of the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa Bath
Full disclosure: My stay was gratis, but this Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa review is straight-up honest. I'd gladly send you here for a luxe getaway!
Location: Soaking Up the Views in the Heart of Bath
The location of the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is basically unbeatable. It rests smack in the middle of the iconic Royal Crescent – one of Bath's most famous architectural landmarks. You've likely spotted this crescent-shaped sweep of honey-colored townhouses – it's shown up in films and TV shows, such as The Duchess and Vanity Fair. Recently, the Royal Crescent starred as the Featherington family's home in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton.
Needless to say, the hotel takes center stage in the city center. It's just a 5-minute walk to the top of the high street, and less than 15 minutes' jaunt to spots like the Thermae Bath Spa and the ancient Roman Baths.

Vibes: Living the (Regency) Dream
Guess what? The Royal Crescent is one of Bath's most famous attractions: 30 terraced houses designed by architectural genius John Wood the Younger between 1767 and 1775. Staying at the Royal Crescent Hotel lets you stay right in the middle of this slice of history. And the hotel's interior embraces that regency-era charm with posh antique furnishings, original fixtures, and grandeur that'll make you feel like royalty. Best of all, the service strikes the perfect balance between lavish and welcoming – plus, there's a warm, West- Country welcome waiting for ya!
Rooms: Cozy Up in Luxury
The Royal Crescent Hotel has 45 bedrooms and suites, each decorated differently by interior designer Jane Clayton. From start to finish, the decor blends history with the contemporary, offering a little something for everyone.
I crashed in one of the Deluxe Suites during my stay – perfect for your royal shenanigans! This spacious room came with a relaxed lounge area, a peaceful (and calming) bedroom in soothing blue tones, and a sleek bathroom with double sinks. Waking up in my four-poster bed, gazing out at the historic Royal Crescent lawns, was a super dreamy experience.
There are also posh Master Suites and the incredible Garden Villa, a private residence. And if you prefer a more modest digs, the bedrooms range from the quaint Deluxe Rooms to the roomy Master Rooms.
Nosh and Booze: West Country Flavors with Elegant Touches
The Dower House Restaurant hides in the hotel's gardens, which means you can dine al fresco when the weather cooperates. Soon, the restaurant will receive a facelift, but for now, just imagine dining in a beautiful setting with a Michelin Star on the horizon. (Yes, really!)
Head chef Martin Blake and his team whip up perfectly incredible "farm-to-fork" dinners that change with the seasons. They also offer a six-course tasting menu to showcase their very best – it's something you simply have to indulge in. And even breakfast was fantastic with a variety of dishes and stunning garden views.
Relaxation Central: Pamper Yourself at the Spa
Bath has always been known for its relaxing spas since its ancient days – the Romans went nuts for the hot springs – so the Royal Crescent Hotel is the perfect spot to unwind and rejuvenate. The spa is small but gorgeous, offering a serene relaxation pool, a large hot tub, a steam room, and a sauna. And the massages? A-mazing! Treat yourself to one (or two) during your stay – it's the perfect way to wrap up a special city break, after you've stuffed your face with all those tasty treats and spent hours taking in the sights.
The Taittinger Dinner Experience
I stayed at the Royal Crescent Hotel to attend their special Taittinger Dinner, which was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. The evening began with some bubbly and delicious snacks in the hotel's cozy lounge, followed by a five-course meal perfectly paired with Taittinger champagne.
Every dish was delicious, even the ones you might not think pair well with champagne – like chalk-steamed trout and venison. The Taittinger dinner taught me to reconsider champagne altogether! If you're a bubbly lover and enjoy finer dining, mark your calendars for the Taittinger Dinner next winter!
Special Events at the Royal Crescent Hotel
The Taittinger Dinner is just one of the many extraordinary events the Royal Crescent Hotel hosts throughout the year. A couple of weeks before my Taittinger Dinner, they hosted a lavish Penhaligon's Festive Afternoon Tea in collaboration with the historic perfume company. Keep an eye on their calendar, and plan your visit during one of their special events for a truly unforgettable trip.
Quick Review Summary
If you're on the hunt for the best place to soak up Bath's relaxed Regency vibes, the Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa is where it's at! This grand, luxurious hotel will cost you a pretty penny, but it's worth it for a special tip – you'll feel like royalty throughout your stay.
