Ancient concept "Hurt People Hurt People" resurfaces as metallers Mudvayne unveil their first new song in 16 years.
Mudvayne Announces 2023 US Tour and Debuts New Single
After a 16-year hiatus, nu metal band Mudvayne has returned with a bang, announcing a massive US tour and debuting a new single titled Hurt People Hurt People. The tour, which kicks off on September 11, 2023, in Dubuque, Iowa, marks the 25th anniversary of their debut album L.D. 50.
The tour will take Mudvayne across the country, with stops in Waukee, Chicago, Milwaukee, Youngstown, Louisville, Chesterfield, Omaha, Denver, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Portland, Airway Heights, Pocatello, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Tulsa, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Durant, Nashville, Atlanta, Raleigh, Virginia Beach, Montclair, Boston, and Mohegan Sun Arena, CT. The tour will run until October 26, 2023, and will wrap up in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Frontman Chad Grey confirmed in 2023 that the band were working on new material, and he has spoken about the new single, stating that Hurt People Hurt People has been around since the beginning of man. He wrote the song as a reminder to himself to break the cycle of creating one’s own suffering and hurt. Hurt People Hurt People is the first taste of new music since Mudvayne reformed in 2021.
The band have not yet confirmed if their upcoming sixth album will include Hurt People Hurt People or if it will be a stand-alone track. However, they have confirmed that support for the tour comes from Static-X and Vended.
Mudvayne have played tours and festival appearances in the US, Australia, but have not played in Europe or the UK since 2005. In 2022, they gave the "L.D. 50 25th Anniversary" headline tour in the USA, starting on September 11th in Dubuque, Iowa, at Q Casino.
The band's Instagram account posted that they were "coming thru [sic] the table soon" when they announced their signing to Alchemy Records. The single is their first release since signing to the record label in May 2023.
Fans of Mudvayne and nu metal music alike are eagerly awaiting the band's return to the stage. With their powerful sound and dynamic performances, it's sure to be an unforgettable tour. Don't miss out on your chance to see Mudvayne live!
