Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport has been facing recurring issues with security control bottlenecks, causing delays and missed flights for passengers. The trade union Ver.di has criticised the insufficient staffing resources at the airport, urging responsible parties to develop a sustainable and long-term solution.
According to the State Presidency, passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours before their departure to avoid delays at security controls. However, the exact number of passengers affected by these issues in 2021 is not clear. The State Presidency of Stuttgart consistently appeals to the responsible parties to increase personnel at security controls. They are currently investigating the incidents and considering measures to address the recurring problems at security controls. However, the airport in Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden has not yet announced any specific plans to address these issues.
To mitigate the risk of missing flights, the State Presidency recommends that all travelers plan enough time, with at least 90 to 120 minutes between boarding and security control being necessary, especially during the holiday season. A "more generous buffer" is advisable to ensure a smooth travel experience.
