Cyprus' airports, Larnaca and Paphos, have welcomed a record-breaking 1,653,880 passengers in July 2025, marking the busiest month ever in the history of the country's airports.

Hermes Airports, the operator of the two airports, attributed this significant increase to several key factors. Strong market momentum from multiple countries such as Israel, the United Kingdom, Poland, Greece, Armenia, and Germany, collectively accounting for 70% of this year's total growth, played a crucial role.

The increased airline activity also contributed to the growth. Forty out of the 58 airlines operating in Cyprus have shown improved performance this year, with major contributors including Wizz Air, Aegean Airlines, Cyprus Airways, TUI Group, LOT, and Air Haifa, accounting for 60% of the market expansion.

The addition of five new airlines and six new routes in the first seven months of 2025 has enhanced connectivity and passenger options, further boosting the passenger numbers.

Cyprus' growing appeal as a summer leisure destination has sustained strong demand, boosting tourist arrivals and airport traffic. The sustained growth also reflects the collaborative efforts of airlines, airport teams, and partners ensuring smooth operations and a positive traveler experience.

This passenger count represents an 11.4% increase compared to the same period last year, and the high traffic is a clear indication of Cyprus' growing appeal as a travel destination. Hermes Airports concluded that the milestone reflects not only Cyprus' ever-increasing popularity as a destination, but also the dedication of airport staff, airline teams, and partners who ensure smooth and enjoyable journeys for millions of travelers.
