EcoDataCentre Secures €600M for Sweden's Largest AI-Focused Data Centres
EcoDataCentre has secured €600 million in debt financing to expand its data centre operations in Sweden. The funds will support the completion of the Falun data centre and the start of construction at the larger Borlänge site, both north of Stockholm.
The Falun facility is expected to reach 68 megawatts of capacity once finished, while Borlänge is planned to deliver between 360 and 400 megawatts, making it one of the largest AI-focused data centres in Europe. The financing, provided by Deutsche Bank’s Private Credit and Infrastructure unit, will ensure the company can sustain its build-out for at least the next 24 to 36 months.
EcoDataCentre's client list includes CoreWeave, BMW, and several global cloud providers. The data centres are being built with AI and other data-heavy workloads in mind. Sweden's unique conditions, including green and affordable electricity, land for expansion, and an engineering DNA, make it a natural choice for data centre growth.
EcoDataCentre, backed by Areim AB and Deutsche Bank, aims to complete existing projects and scale operations without considering an initial public offering (IPO) at this stage. The fresh financing will support the construction of large-scale data centres in Falun and Borlänge, contributing to Sweden's data centre growth.
