Expansion plan unveiled at RACV Inverloch Resort, featuring addition of luxury sea-facing accommodations
RACV Inverloch Resort to Expand, Boosting Regional Tourism
The RACV Inverloch Resort is set to undergo a significant expansion, with construction scheduled to begin in mid-August 2025. The multi-million-dollar project aims to address the soaring demand for accommodation in the region and enhance Inverloch's status as a premium tourist destination.
The new wing of the resort will be a two-level structure with floor-to-ceiling windows, offering stunning ocean views. The expansion will cater to three underserved market segments: the conference and events sector, travellers seeking premium coastal accommodations, and family groups requiring flexible room configurations.
The development, designed by acclaimed firm GHD, will blend seamlessly with the coastal landscape using sustainable materials and native vegetation. The expansion aligns with the Bass Coast Planning Scheme's objectives to encourage well-designed tourist facilities.
The expansion will result in the addition of 36 premium rooms, increasing the resort's accommodation capacity. This will enable the facility to welcome up to 20,000 additional guests annually, raising the total annual visitors from about 55,000 to 75,000.
The project is expected to create approximately 120 jobs during construction and 15 ongoing positions post-opening. The new infrastructure will include additional car parking, relocation of an existing villa, and a new wastewater detention storage system to support growth.
The RACV Inverloch Resort currently hosts 55,000 visitors annually and operates at almost full occupancy during peak periods, often being fully booked months in advance. The resort plays a pivotal role in regional tourism infrastructure and actively supports local producers, artists, and community initiatives.
The Victorian Government has provided assistance for this expansion, with RACV being a recipient of a grant from the Regional Tourism Investment Fund 2024. The expansion also aligns with the "Towards 2030" Gippsland Destination Management Plan, which identifies increasing demand for quality accommodation as key to regional tourism growth.
The RACV Inverloch Resort is just one of the nine resorts operated by RACV across Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania. These resorts offer various travel experiences, including coastal scenery, rich bushland, and city breaks. The resort's acclaimed Radius Restaurant showcases local produce, while the conference spaces cater to a variety of events.
The expansion is positioned as a strategic investment to boost Gippsland’s regional tourism economy, enhance Inverloch’s status as a premium destination, and support local tourism and event capacity. The estimated annual injection into the local economy will be $6.5 million. The new facilities are expected to open and welcome guests by December 2026.
