Revamped Article:

In 2019, two trailblazing French companies shook up the astronomy world with their innovative products – the Stellina from Vaonis and the eVscope from Unistellar. This marked the beginning of the smart telescope trend that has disrupted the astronomical gear market in recent years.

These new-age telescopes could be controlled via an app on your smartphone or tablet, and they came with built-in cameras. This meant that with just one package, you could find and photograph planets, galaxies, and other celestial objects with a simple button press.

The duo continued launching new products, but they came with hefty price tags (thousands of dollars). However, a tantalizing budget option emerged in 2022 as a crowd-funded project called the Mirrosky smart telescope.

Once upon a time, the Mirrosky Smart Telescope sparked excitement on Kickstarter and Indiegogo. At first glance, it seemed like a refined, realistic budget option. The specifications weren't grand, and it didn't promise the moon for a reasonable price. The images and videos backing it up suggested a viable project.

A search for the "Mirrosky Smart Telescope" revealed a website, Facebook page, fan group, YouTube channel, and it appeared in credible sources. There were also YouTube “reviews” showcasing how to connect the telescope to your smartphone. The app's creator was listed as the "Mirrosky Trading Company," with a Chinese phone number, which could be found in Hong Kong's company directory.

But then, the project went eerily quiet...

On Kickstarter, the team posted 14 updates, starting in 2022, with the last one in May 2023. The most recent update indicated that the telescopes would be shipped in August 2023. Since then, though, there's been radio silence, and no one has received a thing.

Comments from backers express their growing frustration and concern on Kickstarter's project page, their patience wearing thin. They fear they may have given money to a phantom project.

As of February 2024, the project has received:

  • 567 backers giving US$370,660 on Kickstarter
  • 596 backers, US$375,964 on Indiegogo

Together, a staggering 1,163 individuals have put US$746,624 into this dubious venture.

But does it spiral downward as a scam, or is it a business venture that took a wrong turn? In the tech world of unforeseen circumstances, only time will tell if the Mirrosky Smart Telescope will find its place among the stars.

In the meantime, two budget-friendly and genuine smart telescopes – the Dwarflab Dwarf 2 and the ZWO Seestar S50 – have already made their mark. Could the Mirrosky Smart Telescope have been a victim of early competition? Or will it shine brightly once it finally emerges from the darkness?

Stay tuned for updates! If anyone from Mirrosky wants to share more, we'll happily update our article (contact us).

The Mirrosky Telescope Project

Launched on crowdfunding platforms in 2022, the Mirrosky Smart Telescope made a solid first impression with its sleek presentation and moderate specifications. Though it didn't promise the world for a low price, it could deliver a fascinating glimpse of the cosmos.

A supporting network of sources, including:

  • ( Currently unavailable ) Mirrosky website
  • Mirrosky Facebook page
  • Mirrosky "Fans" group
  • Mirrosky YouTube Channel

...backed up the claims and appearance of a viable project.

A word of advice: When considering a crowdfunded project, be mindful of risks, and keep an eye on updates to ensure a successful delivery of your investment (may it be a gleaming telescope or a digital dream come true!).
