Germany's Apple Harvest Breaks Records in 2025; Ministry Aids Afghan Detainees
Germany is set to reap a bumper apple harvest this year, with projections exceeding 1 million tons for the first time since 2022. Meanwhile, the German Foreign Ministry is working to facilitate the return of hundreds of Afghans detained in Pakistan, amidst ongoing concerns about their safety.
The main apple harvest season in Germany falls between August and November. This year's harvest is expected to be above average, with a 3.9% increase over the past decade's average. The total estimated harvest for 2025 is 1,009,000 tons, primarily grown in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Lower Saxony, which together hold over 60% of the total output.
In other news, the German Foreign Ministry is working to bring back around 450 Afghans detained in Pakistan to Germany. However, another 2,000 Afghans with German resettlement promises are still waiting to leave Pakistan. Unfortunately, more than 200 Afghans approved for resettlement were sent back to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan from Pakistan, raising serious concerns about their safety.
The German apple harvest in 2025 is projected to be a record-breaking year, with a significant increase in production. Simultaneously, the German Foreign Ministry continues its efforts to ensure the safe return of Afghan detainees to Germany, despite ongoing challenges and setbacks.
