In the heart of Oxford University, the "It Happen Here" campaign is making strides to create a culture of consent and a safer environment for students. This ongoing initiative, run by the Oxford SU, is dedicated to moving towards a society free from sexual violence.

The campaign, led by co-chairs Tasha Lovel and Timea Iliffe, is open to potential collaborations for projects, advice, support, or resources. The committee, comprising elected students representing various demographics, works closely with numerous university groups, including the Sexual Harassment and Violence Support Service, University Security Services, academic departments, JCR Representatives, the SU Sabbatical Team, and other campaigns.

The It Happen Here committee also collaborates with student press and other student groups across the University. For those interested in getting involved, college reps from various colleges are available, and a Facebook group for volunteers is open.

One of the campaign's key focuses is amplifying the voices of survivors. To this end, they run an online platform called "Letters From Survivors" where personal experiences of sexual violence can be shared. They also provide resources and signpost to relevant support services if welfare or other kinds of support are required.

On Friday, 28 May, an information event is scheduled to discuss resources available for those who need them. The University's Sexual Harassment and Violence Support Service will participate in this event, which is open to JCR representatives and other interested students.

The campaign's current focuses also include banning staff-student relationships, tackling sexual violence in sports clubs and societies, improving consent workshops, addressing street harassment and safety, and improving policy on sexual violence.

For the most up-to-date information on their initiatives and projects, it is best to consult Oxford University’s official student union or the campaign’s own communications channels, such as their website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Students can message the Facebook page or contact the Co-Chairs, Tasha Lovel and Timea Iliffe, for more information or to get involved.
