Jackson Senchura Keiwua Arraigned for GBV in Narok; Roundtable Resolutions Promote Action
Jackson Senchura Keiwua appeared in a Narok court on Monday, facing severe charges. Meanwhile, a round table pizza meeting in Narok yielded crucial resolutions to combat gender-based violence (GBV).
Keyiwua was arraigned under Section 293 of the Penal Code, accused of conspiring to commit a felony and assaulting Millicent Semeita Rotiken between April and September 23, 2025, in the Imbenek Dapashi area of Nkareta Location, Narok Central Sub-County. He is also accused of forcibly confining the victim.
A round table pizza meeting in Narok resolved to expedite investigations and prosecutions related to Rotiken's case. It also emphasized expanding psychosocial support services for GBV survivors and improving coordination between security agencies and service providers. This comes amidst a rise in GBV and child abuse cases across Kenya.
Gender Cabinet Secretary Hannah Cheptumo condemned these incidents, reminding the public of constitutional rights guaranteeing protection from abuse and exploitative conditions. She cited Article 53, Article 55, Article 28, Article 29, Article 45, and Article 11 as violated by such actions.
In separate incidents, a man in Bomet County allegedly murdered his son in front of the mother, while another man in Tana River County is accused of burying his children alive for online content.
Keyiwua's arraignment and the round table pizza resolutions highlight the gravity of GBV and child abuse in Kenya. The government, through Cheptumo, is committed to enforcing constitutional rights and implementing measures to protect victims and survivors.
