Magadan Boosts Demographic Growth with Family Support Initiatives
The Magadan region has taken significant steps to enhance the quality of life and boost its demographic situation. A recent meeting, led by Deputy Regional Governor Tatiana Savchenko, reviewed 137 initiatives aimed at social and economic development.
The region has implemented measures to support birth rates, making motherhood and fatherhood prestigious. These efforts have led to an increase in the total fertility rate. Many of these initiatives, such as maternal capital and payments to young mothers, have been adopted by other Russian regions.
The Magadan region also provides rental housing to single specialists, encouraging them to start families. In 2018, a nationwide demographic conference was held under Governor Sergei Nosov's leadership to analyze population outflow and local residents' attitudes towards their region. The Magadan region consistently ranks second in the Far East for quality of life, according to resident evaluations.
The recent meeting's outcome is expected to identify the region's key achievements in improving its demographic situation and develop plans for the next year. While Magadan may not have specific initiatives named, similar efforts in other regions like Krasnojarsk and Novosibirsk could serve as inspiration.
