NBA's Women's League Breaks Regular-Season Attendances Record, Indicating Persistent Growth Trend

The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is experiencing a surge in popularity, with several teams setting new attendance records and the league aiming for a significant milestone.

The New York Liberty is one of the teams leading the charge, boasting a 29% increase in average attendance compared to last season. The Indiana Fever, meanwhile, has drawn more than 300,000 fans through 18 home games, a testament to the growing interest in the team.

The Dallas Wings made history by hosting a game that surpassed the 20,000 attendance mark, becoming the fourth team in league history to achieve this feat. The game against the Fever not only established a new Wings franchise record but also placed Dallas among the top four cities with the largest WNBA crowds.

With a month left in the regular season, the WNBA is aiming to draw more than 3 million fans for the first time. As of Thursday, 2,501,609 fans had attended a WNBA game, surpassing the previous record set in 2002.

The Indiana Fever has been a standout team this season, with their June matchup against the Chicago Sky drawing 2.35 million viewers, the most-watched WNBA game in 23 years. Their July game against the Dallas Wings also brought in 2.1 million viewers on ABC, up 69% from last year's ABC average.

The Washington Mystics will host the Indiana Fever at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena on Sept. 7. The venue, which seats around 14,000, more than doubles the capacity of the team's usual home.

The Golden State Valkyries, a new addition to the league, have sold out all 16 home games in their inaugural season, bringing in a total of 289,024 fans.

The All-Star Game events this season set historic viewing highs across ESPN, ABC, and Disney+.

The Las Vegas Aces have scheduled three September home games at T-Mobile Arena, a venue that holds about 18,000 fans.

The Dallas Wings set a record for the largest WNBA crowd in Texas history with a sellout crowd of 20,409 for their matchup with the Fever.

In a remarkable feat, the WNBA has broken its all-time regular-season attendance record in 2025, surpassing the previous record in 30 fewer games.

While the search results do not provide information about which WNBA team attracted the most spectators per game in 2025, it is clear that the league is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, with fans flocking to stadiums and tuning in to watch their favourite teams compete.
