Outdoor Movie Screening at OLANA Set to Feature the Mysterious CLUE

Upstate Films Presents a 40th Anniversary Screening of "Clue" at Olana

On August 22, 2025, Upstate Films will bring the iconic murder mystery film "Clue" to the big screen at Olana State Historic Site in Hudson, NY. This special screening is part of Upstate Films' 2025 Hudson Valley Picture Show and is in conjunction with "What's Missing? Artworks in the Olana Landscape" by Ellen Harvey and Gabriela Salazar.

Olana, designed by the famous American landscape artist Frederic Edwin Church, is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most visited sites in the state. Its 250-acre landscape offers unrivaled panoramic views of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains.

The movie "Clue" is a comedic mystery and cult classic, celebrating its 40th anniversary. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, the film revolves around six colorful dinner guests who gather at the mansion of their host, Mr. Boddy. As the night unfolds, each guest is revealed to be hiding a secret and is being blackmailed by Mr. Boddy. When Mr. Boddy is murdered, the guests must navigate their way through a maze of clues to uncover the killer among them.

Pre-screening activities for the movie start at 7PM and will include an "art mystery" scavenger hunt with live performers from Definitely Human Theatre. Lulu's Charcuterie will provide individual charcuterie boxes for purchase, and candy, popcorn, and drinks will also be available.

Upstate Films, founded in 1972, is a cinema organization that connects the Hudson Valley through transformative cinema. Its mission is to use movies and other media-based storytelling to build empathy, community, and a stronger appreciation of our place and our planet. Upstate Films operates its flagship Starr Cinema in Rhinebeck, Orpheum Theatre in Saugerties, and provides regular events in Kingston and Catskill.

Olana is open for guided touring, with reservations highly recommended, and is open daily from 8 AM-sunset. Tickets for the movie are $7 per person, and they are free for kids 12 and under.
