Summer Holiday Preferences of Omsk Residents

Residents of Omsk, a city in southwestern Siberia, typically gravitate towards various destinations for their summer vacations, according to a recent survey.

Twenty percent of respondents prefer a beach vacation, while 12% choose to stay at home. A trip to a dacha or village was chosen by 11% of the participants.

Roughly 5% each opted for spending the holiday in nature or traveling within Russia. Overseas destinations were comparatively less popular, with 4% preferring any foreign country, followed by 3% for Asia, 2% for Turkey, 1% for Egypt, and 1% for Abkhazia.

Crimea, Krasnodar Krai, and Baikal were the most popular Russian resorts among Omsk residents, with 5% each favoring them. Altai and Dagestan, however, received fewer votes with 1% preference each.

Some respondents suggested non-standard options, such as a mountain trip (2%) and isolation from people (1%), while other mentioned destinations included Karelia, Sakhalin, Kamchatka, the Urals, and Kaliningrad. Two percent went as far as to advise against taking a holiday at all to save days.

Interestingly, women in Omsk expressed a greater preference for beach vacations than their male counterparts (25% vs. 15%). On the other hand, men were more likely to choose to stay home (14% vs. 10%) or travel within Russia (6% vs. 4%). Employed city dwellers were more inclined to dream of mountain holidays (4% vs. 1% of the unemployed), while the unemployed were more likely to recommend not taking a holiday this summer (3% vs. 2% of the employed).

In a separate note, heavy rain is expected in the Omsk region due to an approaching southern cyclone. Advertisements are being shared on Om1 Омск to keep residents informed.

What about a lifestyle change for the summer vacation, opting for a trip that allows exploration and unique experiences instead of the usual destinations? For instance, perhaps traveling to a mountain range to escape the everyday or finding seclusion to disconnect from the usual hustle and bustle?
