Royal Caribbean Launches $137M Port Partners Program in Seward, Alaska

Royal Caribbean cruise line is launching a significant initiative in Seward, Alaska, with the Port Partners program. This ten-week academic course, supported by a $137 million cruise ship terminal lease, aims to empower local businesses and support economic growth.

The program, starting in February 2026, is open to Seward residents with business ideas in their early stages. Applications are currently being accepted until December 15. Port Partners offers a comprehensive package, including personalized mentorship, coaching, and an interactive pitch competition. The grand prize is a $20,000 grant for the winning participant.

The program is a collaboration between Royal Caribbean, Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC), the University of Alaska, the Seward Small Business Development Center, and the City of Seward. It also includes support from the Seward Chamber of Commerce and other local partners. AVTEC and the University of Alaska are developing pathways for participants to earn course credits through the program.

The Port Partners program is part of Royal Caribbean's 'SEA the Future' strategy, focusing on sustainability, community energization, and innovation acceleration. By investing in Seward's small businesses, Royal Caribbean seeks to strengthen the local economy and create a lasting positive impact on the community.
