Solo Traveler's Journey - Kuari Pass Trek Expedition

After a two-year hiatus, Indian adventurer Suraj Dutta is resuming his biking-trekking journey, this time in the picturesque Garhwal Himalayas. The author, known for his daring expeditions, is embarking on the challenging Kuari Pass trek solo.

The trek, planned for the Republic Day weekend, will see Suraj Dutta leave Delhi on the night of 25th, reaching Haridwar by 5 AM, before proceeding to Joshimath, the starting point of his adventure. On Day 2, he plans to reach Dhak village, where he will pitch his camp for the night.

The following day, Suraj Dutta aims to reach either Tali Top or Chitrakantha. The climax of his journey, however, will be on Day 4 when he attempts to summit the Kuari Pass. After a successful ascent, he plans to return to Dhak for recuperation before riding back to Delhi on Day 5.

January in the Joshimath and Auli region of Uttarakhand, where the trek takes place, is the peak snow season. The trails can be covered in snow, making trekking more challenging. Proper winter trekking gear such as thermals, windproof jackets, woolen caps, gloves, and sturdy trekking shoes are essential. The scenic beauty with snow-capped peaks, pine forests, and valleys is breathtaking, but the weather can be harsh, with cold temperatures and occasional snowstorms possible.

Ropeway services from Joshimath to Auli usually operate during winter months but may be temporarily halted during heavy snowfall or poor visibility for safety. In such cases, the road between Joshimath and Auli might be blocked due to snow, making access difficult.

Despite these challenges, the spectacular winter landscape attracts many tourists. Suraj Dutta is not new to such conditions, having previously completed the full Ladakh-Spiti circuit in July 2016. This time, he is keeping a promise to Rana ji, a friend from Joshimath, to do the Kuari Pass trek together.

Suraj Dutta is undertaking this adventure on a Thunderbird, braving the dense fog on the roads from Ghaziabad, causing visibility issues. The journey is primarily for trekking, with the author looking forward to overcoming the challenges that lie ahead and creating memories in the heart of the Himalayas.

During Suraj Dutta's carefully planned adventure-travel journey through the Garhwal Himalayas, his itinerary includes a solo trek of the challenging Kuari Pass, starting from Joshimath. As he embarks on this mission, he will encounter a picturesque, yet harsh winter landscape, requiring suitable gear for cold temperatures and snowstorms. Despite these hardships, this adventure-travel endeavor promises an unforgettable lifestyle experience, filled with breathtaking scenery and personal challenges in the heart of the Himalayas.
