**Meerbusch Kulturkreis: Enriching Cultural Life in the Region**

The Meerbusch Kulturkreis e.V., a cultural association based in Meerbusch, Germany, continues to make significant contributions to the region's cultural landscape. The organisation, dedicated to promoting and supporting artistic engagement, recently organised a soiree themed around the Netherlands, and is planning trips to Paris and other destinations.

One of the association's most anticipated events is the Meerbuscher Musiksommer 2025, a summer concert series running from July 13 to August 24. The diverse musical programme features genres such as classical, baroque, chanson, tango, world music, and Beatles interpretations, with concerts taking place every Sunday at 5:00 PM in various churches across Meerbusch neighbourhoods. This year, the Meerbuscher Kulturkreis e.V. will join the event as a supporter, alongside the Bürgerverein Ossum-Bösinghoven, which is also involved in organising the August 17 concert and hosting a social gathering afterward.

The association also highlights influential local artists, such as Walter Jordans, a clarinetist and founder of the Meerbuscher Camerata, who significantly shaped the music scene in Meerbusch for over fifty years. In addition to organising concerts, the Meerbuscher Kulturkreis is involved in exhibitions and supports local artists, contributing to the vibrant cultural scene in Meerbusch.

In other news, a new edition of the book "Life in Meerbusch" with etchings by a local artist has been published by the Meerbusch Kulturkreis in honour of Editha Hackspiel's birthday. The membership meeting concluded in a communicative atmosphere at the outdoor seating of Café Illy by the water tower.

An exciting development for the future of Meerbusch includes plans to restore the Brüll Mill and make it available to the public for a longer period. The workshop of Will Brüll is to be preserved, and it is being considered how a large part of the over 5,000 works by Brüll can be sold to the benefit of the Brüll-Houfer Foundation to open a Brüll Museum.

The Meerbusch Kulturkreis maintains a clear and unwavering stance against antisemitism and any form of hate speech. The association's board was re-elected unanimously in a recent election, with the chair and board members being re-elected by acclamation.

The Meerbuscher Kulturkreis has successfully implemented many cultural projects and exhibitions in the past year, including multiple guided tours, events, and trips due to high demand. The Heimatkreis Lank and the Meerbuscher Kulturkreis plan to install further artworks at the Latumer See in the long term, but the lake should not be "carpeted" with art. A large sculpture by the late Meerbusch artist Will Brüll was installed at the Latumer See as a loan from the Brüll-Houfer Foundation, and plans are to place a QR code on an information sign in front of the artwork.

As Meerbusch's cultural offerings continue to expand, the Meerbuscher Kulturkreis plays a crucial role in enriching the region's artistic landscape through collaborative events, musical series, and support of artistic endeavors. The book "Life in Meerbusch" can be purchased from three Meerbusch bookstores: Gossens in Büderich, Mrs. Books in Lank, and Frank Achten in Osterath.

In honour of Editha Hackspiel, who is turning 100 this year, the association expressed gratitude to members Ingrid Kuntze, Hedwig von Bülow, and Ernst-Jürgen Kratz for sharing their war experiences during the "80 Years of NS Liberation" memorial events. Lothar Beseler, the 1st chairman of the Meerbusch Kulturkreis, reported on the overhaul of the homepage, which went live in early June. Monika Zehmisch worked on the new website with great dedication and time, and Gisela Saßmannshausen provided active support.

In addition to these activities, Sigrid Müller-Emsters offers joint visits to the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus and the Robert-Schumann-Saal, while Martin Wilke specialises in hiking tours and readings. Plans for next year include a 70-day trip to the Baltics in July 2026 and a cultural hiking trip to Dessau at the end of September, focusing on nature and Bauhaus art. Felix Drewes, Ursula Waaser, and Dr. Thomas Wolff round off the activities with further cultural offers in Düsseldorf and the surrounding area.

The Meerbuscher Kulturkreis continues to be a driving force in the cultural life of Meerbusch, fostering artistic engagement and enriching the community through various events, exhibitions, and cultural experiences.

The Meerbuscher Kulturkreis e.V. is planning trips to Paris and other destinations, in addition to their home-and-garden themed events. The membership meeting concluded with discussions about organizing a home-and-garden exhibition, which could showcase travel experiences and photos from the upcoming trips.
