Summer break has arrived at schools!
Experience the Magic of the Latitude Festival's Family-Friendly Activities
This month, the Latitude Festival offered a delightful array of family-friendly activities, transforming the weekend into a memorable experience for children and parents alike.
The author, representing a trust, was part of a school visit that turned out to be a nonstop whirlwind of fun. The kids immersed themselves in various activities, creating nature journals, making willow jellyfish, participating in minibeast hunting, and lake dipping.
One of the highlights of the school day was the discovery of baby toads in the woods, water scorpions, and newt poles in the lakes. The excitement didn't end there, as two new species of moths were caught during the school visit - the gorgeously golden fluffy oak eggar and the canary-shouldered thorn.
The festival's Kids Area, located around the central lake, was a hub of activities. Children enjoyed pond dipping, star gazing, fire shows, pizza making, traditional woodland crafts, and exciting science experiments. The Inbetweeners' Teen Area provided a space for teenagers to engage in music, media, fashion, and technology workshops, as well as wildlife survival skills and tree-suspended assault courses.
The festival also offers a dedicated family campsite for families with children under 13, who can attend free, and a family campervan area. This convenient space within the public camping area made the festival experience more accessible and enjoyable for all.
Despite the weekend being rewarding, it was also exhausting. The author wrote a blog post about the Latitude festival experience, reminding future interns not to forget their festival ticket, as they might have to drive home to get it.
As the season comes to an end, the school day at the Latitude festival concluded with a moth session, providing a fitting end to a fun-filled day. The Latitude Festival offers a unique blend of family-friendly activities, making it a must-visit for families looking for a memorable and enjoyable festival experience.
