Soaring Profits at Cologne/Bonn Airport: A Triumph Amidst Travel Enthusiasm

Cologne/Bonn Airport Earns Substantially Greater Financial Revenue - The Commission observes a lack of disclosure regarding the financial expenses associated with the airport's operations.

Riding the wave of German travelers' eagerness to jet-set and business travelers' vigor, North Rhine-Westphalia's second-biggest aviation hub, Cologne/Bonn Airport, is booming. Recently, the airport announced a staggering 6% increase in revenue for the past year, with a turnover of 363.8 million euros. Remarkably, for the third year in a row, the airport was in the black, raking in a profit of 12.7 million euros - an impressive 7.5 million euro jump compared to the previous year. The airport has big plans to splurge on enhancements for passengers and optimization of operations.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, passenger numbers topped the 10-million mark, with the airport welcoming over 10 million travelers (2023: 9.8 million). In stark contrast, Düsseldorf - North Rhine-Westphalia's largest airport - served over 20 million passengers in 2024.
