Tourist ventures bloom prominently in Krasnodar region during the initial half of 2025, ranking amongst top regions.

In the first half of 2025, the tourism sector in Russia has experienced a significant surge, with over 5,000 new Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) opening their doors across the country. Among these, Krasnodar Krai stands out as one of the regions with the highest number of tourism-related enterprises, positioning it as a leading hub for the industry.

Krasnodar Krai, second only to Moscow in terms of the number of businesses, has demonstrated a remarkable growth in the tourism sector. Compared to other regions in Russia, Krasnodar Krai has experienced a significant increase in tourism-related business growth, with a total of 465 tourism business projects launched in Kuban, one of the highest figures in the country.

The city of Sochi, in particular, has shown a notable contribution to this growth. In the same period, 86 new SMEs were registered in Sochi, further boosting the tourism sector in Krasnodar Krai.

Krasnodar Krai's leading role in tourism-related enterprise growth can be attributed to several key factors. The region's high tourist popularity, attractive to nearly 31 percent of domestic travelers in 2023, has been a significant driving force. Its location on the Black Sea makes it the preferred summer holiday region for many Russians.

Investment and infrastructure development have also played a crucial role. Krasnodar Krai is among the leaders in securing state funds and subsidies aimed at developing tourism infrastructure. These investments have enabled the construction of new tourist facilities, non-capital berthing structures, the purchase of tourist equipment, and the improvement of existing centers.

The region has also attracted nearly 250 billion rubles in investment agreements as of 2025, indicating strong economic confidence and enabling further infrastructure and enterprise growth in the tourism sector. Supportive government programs, such as federal programs that foster tourism growth by providing subsidies requiring matching private investments, have also been instrumental in the region's success.

Moreover, Krasnodar Krai continues to diversify its tourist offerings, helping attract more visitors and supporting enterprise expansion. Although the region mainly attracts summer tourists to the Black Sea coast, its continuous development of tourism infrastructure and facilities helps sustain the growth of the sector year-round.

As a result, the total number of tourism SMEs in Russia now exceeds 76,500, with 234,000 people employed by these enterprises. One in five tourism SMEs in Russia is opened by young entrepreneurs aged 35 and under, reflecting the sector's growing appeal among the younger generation.

In conclusion, Krasnodar Krai's leading position in tourism-related enterprise growth can be attributed to its established status as a top domestic destination, strategic state and private investments in infrastructure under government-backed programs, and substantial new funding agreements that facilitate business scaling and attract tourists year-round.

The thriving home-and-garden industry in Krasnodar Krai, a tourism hub, has benefited from the region's success in the travel sector, with numerous small tourism-related businesses offering accommodations and services to tourists. The proximity of the Black Sea and the region's popularity among domestic travelers have created an ideal lifestyle for both tourists and local entrepreneurs.
