Turkish Southwind Airlines initiates flights to Krasnodar, commencing from October 2nd.

Krasnodar International Airport, the largest in the Southern Federal District and one of the busier airports in Russia, has reopened for flights after a closure for security reasons since 2022. The airport, which served a significant number of passengers in its peak year, is set to welcome more travellers with the resumption of its flight services.

The airport served 58 destinations before the restrictions and had 40 airlines operating within its premises. In 2021, the airport's passenger traffic reached a record 5,025,063, marking a 38% increase from the previous year.

The reopening of Krasnodar International Airport comes with an expanded flight program. Turkish Southwind Airlines will launch services from October 2, joining the existing major tour operator Azur Air. SunExpress, another prominent airline, will also operate flights to Turkish destinations such as Antalya and Izmir, with new services beginning in the winter season, including flights from Krasnodar.

The Aviation Transport Operator (ATOUR) reported that the aviation restrictions were lifted, enabling the start of the flight program. The flight program will include the popular destination of Antalya from Krasnodar, as stated in the message.

Before the restrictions, the number of airlines operating at Krasnodar International Airport was substantial, and the airport served multiple destinations. The airport's resumption of operations is a significant step towards restoring normalcy in air travel and boosting the tourism industry in the region.

In 2021, Krasnodar International Airport ranked ninth among Russian airports in terms of passenger traffic, demonstrating its importance in the Russian aviation sector. With the resumption of its flight services and the expansion of its flight program, the airport is poised to regain its position as a major player in the industry.
