In a significant move to celebrate its 10th anniversary of operating in Kenya, Uber has launched a new tourism programme called Uber Safari. This initiative, aimed at offering pre-bookable guided tours for observing African wildlife, is expected to generate a substantial amount of revenue and create new earning opportunities for local tour operators and partners.

According to estimates, Uber Safari anticipates generating $4.3 billion in tourism revenue in Kenya. In 2023 alone, the company contributed a substantial $109 million to Kenya's economy, with a significant portion, approximately 20%, coming directly from tourism.

Tourism plays a crucial role in Kenya's economy, contributing 10.4% of the GDP. It also provides 5.5% of employment in the country. With the introduction of Uber Safari, it is expected that these figures will see a further boost.

The tours offered by Uber Safari are available during both daytime and nighttime, providing tourists with a unique opportunity to experience the African wildlife at different times of the day.

While there is no clear information about a company specifically named 'Uber Safari' or its founders, it is worth noting that the spirit of entrepreneurship in the Kenyan tourism industry is not new. For instance, Bruno, the founder of Travel Wise Safari, a local safari tour operator in Tanzania, started his company after having to interrupt his medical studies for family reasons.

Uber Safari's entry into the Kenyan tourism market underscores the importance of tourism as a key driver of the economy. As the company continues to grow and evolve, it is expected that it will contribute significantly to Kenya's tourism industry and economy in the years to come.
