VW Group Logistics Boosts Forecasting and Decarbonisation for Strategic Advantage

VW Group Logistics has been enhancing its demand and capacity forecasting for vehicle logistics, prioritising transparency and data. The company's managing director, Oliver Bronder, recently shared insights at the ALSC Europe conference.

VW Group has honed its problem-solving and collaborative decision-making across functions following recent supply chain challenges. The company's logistics arm is now focusing on decarbonisation, with plans to boost train capacity using green electricity, adopt electric trucks, and employ LNG ships.

Bronder highlights that logistics has become a strategic advantage for VW Group, driven by the aim of improving end-customer reliability. The company has been ramping up digitalisation for finished vehicle shipments. In response to a recent capacity crunch, VW Group Logistics temporarily increased its use of chartered trucks but has since returned to normal levels. Looking ahead, the company is exploring the use of synthetic fuels like ammonia to power vessels.

VW Group Logistics is strengthening its vehicle logistics with improved forecasting and decarbonisation efforts. The company sees logistics as a strategic tool for enhancing customer reliability, with digitalisation playing a key role.
